In recognising our condition as human beings, we must act based on dignity, compassion, and respect. Not only is it possible to do more, but we must also take responsibility for our ecological footprint and assume what we can improve.

Artevasi was recognized by Consumer Choice as the number one choice in the decorative pots category in the Portuguese market.
We obtained the 'Ok Recycled' certification scheme, achieving an integration of 65% or more recycled material in our collection of plastic products. Currently, 97% of our plastic collection falls within these parameters. We are only the second Portuguese company to achieve this certification.
We launched our first Carbon Footprint Report, including the analysis of the life cycle of our products.
For the first time, we launched an Artevasi Sustainability Report for 2023, which you can see here.
We successfully underwent another Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA), which gives us notoriety and recognition among our main clients. SEDEX's 4-pillar Social Audit is based on 1) labour standards, 2) health and safety, 3) business ethics and 4) the environment.
At the beginning of 2024, we officially became members of Smart Waste Portugal and the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD).
To raise our commitment to Nature, we created an internal Sustainability Committee in 2021, consisting of different people from different departments, to think, discuss, and implement strategies across the whole company. With this initiative, we aim to be a 100% sustainable company with a purpose for People, Planet, and Business:
“Initiatives like this are fundamental to integrating sustainability into the company's strategy, aligning the various departments in the Sustainability Business Case, never losing sight of creating value for the company.”
“Social responsibility is a commitment, not just a choice. The committee is essential for integrating social, environmental and ethical practices into our organisation. Together, we can build a culture of well-being, respect and inclusion, promoting sustainable growth for our employees and the community.”
“The committee, analysed through the eyes of the HR Department, is the bridge between the present and a fairer future, where each person becomes an agent of change and each action reflects a commitment to a better world.”
“This committee is essential to ensure that production practices evolve responsibly, balancing efficiency, innovation and sustainability.”
“Developing sustainable products is not an option; it's a commitment to the future. The Sustainability Committee is essential, ensuring that each innovation is made responsibly, without neglecting the positive impact on the planet.”
“The committee is increasingly important when making decisions about the suppliers we want to work with, as it is essential that they are aligned with our sustainable policies. My intervention allows us to reconcile sustainability parameters with added value for the business.”
“I see sustainability as essential to our growth. By ensuring ethical practices and providing sustainable innovation, we are reducing our environmental impact while creating real value for the company, our stakeholders and the planet. For Artevasi, sustainability is not just a commitment. It's the foundation of our brand and our future.”
"The commitment to sustainability is intrinsically linked to Artevasi and it is through the implementation of small actions that we can raise awareness and foster a more sustainable philosophy of concern and care for the environment and Nature."
The Sustainability Committee has set three major goals for the year 2025, ensuring that we are increasingly aligned with our green path:
We want to sponsor an olive grove in Abrantes, Portugal, by joining the apadrinhaumaoliveira.org project under the slogan ‘one tree per employee’. Our mission is to recover these abandoned olive groves, guarantee biodiversity continuity, and increase CO₂ capture.
Our first Carbon Footprint Report considered Scope 1 and 2, i.e. direct and indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, respectively. In the next report, we intend to also include Scope 3, which concerns all the other indirect emissions (not included in Scope 2) that occur in the value chain.
Just as Nature evolves, we like to innovate, using sustainable materials and new trends to develop collections that are increasingly in line with our values. Innovation is also sustainable and happens not to overproduce but to complement the collection and give it new roots. We believe in sustainable innovation to elevate our business more responsibly:
We have a team fully dedicated to product innovation and launch new products every year
We continue to invest in new and improved technologies, state-of-the-art machinery, new product approaches and the automation of manual processes
We develop all products to be reused and eventually recycled
Eco-design: we design products with as few parts as possible, optimise the manufacturing process to use fewer energy resources and reduce the number of injections when designing plastic pots
Several product ranges have been created with techniques never used before, whether in the way we made the moulds, shaped the materials or developed the design
Local artisans: we trust both the young and the experienced to develop new collections of handmade ceramics that combine expertise and tradition with a breath of fresh air in terms of silhouettes and colours
To ensure process optimisation, greater agility in product development and more streamlined production, ARTEVASI is certified according to ISO 9001:2015. In the environmental spectrum, we are certified by ISO 14001:2015, and we are implementing an Environmental Management System to improve our relationship with our Planet continuously.
